Dear Friends of Pocket Opera:
Pocket Opera returns to the Legion after a two year exile, offering another breath of fresh arias, neatly hatched plots, luscious melodies, flowering ensembles, sopranos already in full bloom - in short, a garden of delights, appropriate to one of the most breathtakingly beautiful sites in the entire world. Not to mention the Italianate jewel box of a theater - the perfect size and setting for Pocket Opera.
With two offerings from Shakespeare (one of them a Pocket premiere) you might also call this a celebration of his 449th anniversary. Why wait for a rounded figure? But life is too short not to also include Mozart and those two Pocket Opera stalwarts, Handel and Offenbach. All in all, as Joshua Kosman in a review of Pocket Opera once wrote, hitting the nail on the head: "Fun enough, I'd wager, to convert the most zealous opera hater."
